hong kongBusiness costs are smooth sailing when Information Technology (IT) salaries are increasing across the region. 41 percent of technology workers have enjoyed a salary increase over the last year, mainly due to the increase in demand for skilled technology staff in the wake of a tight employment market. According to Robert Half International, the latest technology salary guide has shown that Asia Pacific’s technology industry is experiencing strong growth and employers need to be prepared to respond to the current environment to further succeed. Employers in Hong Kong were hit the hardest with more than half of them (56 percent) having to give out a pay increase. The higher pay does not necessary mean that staff will remain in the organization either. Of all of the employees across the Asia Pacific region, those in Hong Kong are most likely to leave their current employer, with 86 percent of the respondents believing that it is necessary to switch jobs in order to gain greater bargaining power in salary negotiations.
