More employers in China are opening its doors to hire foreigners. The number of businesses that are willing to recruit job seekers from North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the other places outside of Chinese mainland have increased from 50 percent in 2009 to 70 percent in 2010. There has been a growing demand for overseas talent especially for Chinese students who return from studying abroad or have experiences working in other countries. The Ministry of Education has released a statistics reviewing about 108,000 people returned to China from abroad, 56.2 percent than the number from the previous year. Hays’ Regional Director, Emma Charnock, said that 70 percent of all Chinese employers are willing to hire overseas workers even though it is lower than its average of 76 percent in the Asia market. However it is still manageable when compared with the past. Hays Beijing Branch Manager, Wu Rui, explained that it has been a common trend for most companies to recruit people from overseas earning similar salary scales as opposed to expatriates who earn 20 percent more than their Chinese counterparts.
